Yet Another Rainy Day

Folks,

Yet another rainy day today.

Rain shouldn't stop you practicing with your camera, it is time for some desktop photography. Shooting everyday objects in your home can be a lot of fun and will help you practicing with your camera.

I shot the biscuits as part of a personal 52 project I am doing this year. The theme this week was "broken". I used a white plate and a black background just to make the subject stand out from the background. I broke one of the biscuits in half and made sure I had a realistic scattering of crumbs on the plate.

The shot was taken with a Canon 5d MKIII with a 70-200 F2.8 lens. I placed the plate inside a cheap light tent to diffuse the light and shot at 200mm F2.8 to minimise the depth of field as I didn't want the whole plate in focus. This technique uses differential focus to show what the main subject of the shot is, in this case the break in the biscuit.

Don't forget you can try any household object, kitchen impliments, toys etc..

Have fun

Martin
