Testimonials

Steve March 2024 - Thank you very much for your excellent judging on Zoom for us, it was the best we’ve had, a master class in my opinion. Feedback from other clubs was also very positive.

Mark Feb 2023  - Thank you so much for last night’s presentation. It went down a storm. I was in the pub and there was such a great atmosphere. When I booked you I had in mind beginners to photography however everyone really enjoyed the content which has given us all food for thought.

Graham October 2021 - Many thanks for a splendid judging last night.  We were delighted with your insight into our

pictures and certainly thought you zoned in on the areas that could be improved and selected some worthy winners.

We may not have "found" you for eight years but now that we have we want to see you on an ongoing basis if you

are willing!

Ken - Jun 2021 -  Many thanks for the presentation last night.

I’m sure I speak for all the members that were on-line when I say it was very interesting, entertaining and very well delivered.

Having one’s images critiqued has always been a touchy topic at the club, but your presentation and methodology certainly made this subject less of a taboo and actually quite enjoyable for members who might have previously shied away from this type of activity.

Trevor July 2020Martin Patten gave Melbourn & District his really interesting talk "Improving Your Photography" last night. The talk is crammed full of fantastic advice and so well illustrated with good and poor images to illustrate his points. If you haven't seen this talk, you should. We also welcomed members from 7 other Clubs (Royston, Letchworth, Biggleswade, Isle of Man, Hebden Bridge, City of Norwich and North Norfolk).

Stuart July 2020  - Falkirk Camera Club's virtual meeting 14 took place on Thursday 18th June where the guest speaker was Martin Patten (DPAGB LRPS BPE4* QPSA)   Martin is a highly accomplished photographer who exhibits his work worldwide. On this occasion and while including those images he also included photographs which, he thought, didn’t quite reach his own high standard explaining how they could have been improved.

Martin discussed our motivation for taking photographs such as, what are we trying to communicate and what story are we telling ? He illustrated how the smallest positional alteration to a photographer’s standpoint can have a significant effect on the final photograph and how Digital cameras allow us to check composition after each exposure.

Trevor July 2020 Thanks to Richard Moorse and Cannock Photographic Society for allowing non-members to join in their Zoom meeting last night. An excellent presentation by Martin Patten on "Improving Your Photography" - something I'm sure we all could do... Lots of information and tips - good for newcomers to photography and equally a good refresher for those who've become a bit stuck in their ways. And of course we got to see some of Martin's excellent images and hear him talk about them. So thanks again to all involved.

Chris June 2020 - We had an excellent lecture yesterday evening at Stevenage PS from Martin Patten DPAGB LRPS BPE4* QPSA . The lecture was titled 'Improving Your Photography' and by the end Martin had covered pretty much everything you could ever do to achieve that! Thorough, absorbing and entertaining, Martin gave us all a great evening and lots of tips. There will be plenty of members putting his wisdom to their photography in future! Thank you, Martin!

Mark May 2015 - "Hello mate, just a note to say thank you so much for today. It was worth every single penny. I've learnt loads - why I make mistakes & how to correct them. A lot of it has really sunk in but when I get home I will write it all down. I really enjoyed your company & your teachings. I'm thrilled to bits at how much I've progressed in just one day!! I'm going to practice, practice practice. So so pleased - cheers mate"

Andy June 2014"Hi Martin , I just wanted to say a massive thank you for all of your help yesterday. You explained things in such an easy to understand way that helped me get the best out of my day. I feel I learnt loads."

Clive May 2014"Martin, I enjoyed our day out at Barnes. It was a shame it went so quickly. I found your style easy and certainly found by the end of the day I was doing things differently eg stance when taking pictures, holding lenses etc.."

Kai March 2014"I had a great afternoon out street togging in Colchester with Martin Patten a very knowledgeable and friendly photographer I recommend that anyone to go out on a shoot with him as you will definitely enjoy"

Mel Jan 2014 - "I found Martin to be extremely knowledgeable and helpful. His style is friendly, informative and not jargon based. I felt he really took the time to listen to my needs and responded accordingly. He showed me some basic panning techniques as well as different ways I could improve my shots. I would defiantly recommend him and will be booking another camera days experience soon"

Leanne Dec 2013 - "The way that you put everything across to me was perfect - exactly what I need as opposed to a group situation"

Val 2013 - "Martin is an extremely articulate and engaging speaker and thoroughly professional in his approach and delivery"

Steve 2013 - "Martin is an excellent and engaging communicator. He is someone who I always enjoy working with, and his guidance and support is always appreciated"
